Seeing God In Your Past

This article was written by Evangelist Wil Rice on Psalms 105:4-5: Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvelous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth.

Psalms 105 gives us perspective on our present, our past, and our future. What you see in your future depends, in large part, upon what you recall from your past. A man who cannot see God in his past is not likely to trust Him for his future.

Take, for instance, the example of Joseph (verse 17). Did Joseph*s brothers sell him into slavery, or did God send him? The answer is, Yes! God kept His promise to Abraham by sending famine and sending Joseph. He is a promise-keeping God!

God wanted to *incubate* a family into a nation, and He chose to do that in Egypt. How did He get them to Egypt? He sent starvation and a slave. When it was time to get the children of Israel out of Egypt, He sent plagues, Moses, and Aaron to get them out. He did all of that to keep His promise.

In the present, it is hard to see how God is dealing with you and your family. But He is God, and you are not! The past is always more comfortable than the future. You can analyze, second-guess, and compartmentalize the past, but the future is wild, untamed, and unknown (to us). But that is not true with God!

To see clearly in the future, you must remember to see God*s dealings in your past. Can you see God leading, or do you only see random chaos? Do you see God*s grace and supply, or do you only see tragedy? God is alive and at work in your life today. The question is, will you see it?
